Flounder Roundup for Galveston Saturday
Flounder Roundup for Galveston Bay
This is a note from Bryan Treadway.
Lutes Marine is hosting a great event. It's a combination fishing tournament & flounder roundup.
All of the flounder brought in must be alive and in good condition, as they will be sent Sea Center Texas at Lake Jackson. There, they will be used for spawning, and will help restock the Galveston Bay flounder.
Here are the flounder categories (there are also redfish and trout categories as well)...
Longest LIVE Flounder
Determined by LENGTH
Flounder must meet or exceed 14”
Flounder must be alive and in good condition
Shortest LIVE Flounder
Determined by LENGTH
Flounder must meet or exceed 14”
Flounder must be alive and in good condition
ALSO, the flounder truck from Texas Parks and wildlife will be at the Marina, at noon until 3 p.m. Please do not bring your flounder in sooner than that, as there will be no place to keep them.
For more information, call Lutes Marine at 281-393-1021 or email Treadway at fishcontrolmybrain@yahoo.com.
Big Catch, Bigger Release
Scott Bandy and Louis Moore of the Orange County CCA Chapter sent in some great pics of their last flounder trip. Here's the email.
Here are the four flounder we (Louis Moore and Myself) caught Saturday on the La. shoreline. Kept four that swallowed the hook to 19" and released eight more to 18 3/4". All caught on Berkley Gulp 3" shrimp New Penny. Fish were staged just off a ridge that runs out into the lake around Bridge Bayou. in two to three feet of water.

Scott Bandy with a flat beauty.

Louis Moore with a perfect oven-sized fish.
If you have flounder photos you would like to share email them to me at cmoore@fishgame.com.
Replica Program Still In Play
Marcus Heflin still leads November's replica contest with his 22 7/8-inch trophy fish. Anglers are starting to see some big fish out there and still have almost two weeks to compete for November's replica and earn "Flounder Angler of the Year" points.
The largest flounder measuring 20 inches or more caught, documented (as per our guidelines) and photographed can earn a fiberglass flounder replica from March-November through our program, which you can learn more about by clicking here. The angler with the most total inches of flounder registered at the end of November gets a special trophy and a $1,000 fishing tackle package.
Even if you do not win November but tally several 20 inch plus releases, you could win our "Flounder Angler of the Year" package.

Fished Friday @ Galveston Ship Channel with my buddy Wayne Pedigo. We caught 38 flounder. I ended up with a 22" 5.2 lb and a 21.5" 4.8 lb flounder. Wayne had 2 - 19.5" flounder. We kept them alive in a live well & delivered them to Sea Center Texas in Lake Jackson. Unfortunately my 21.5" fish didn't survive. Saturday I caught a 19.5" & a 17" & Wayne had a 17.5" & 16" that were caught in Surfside & also delivered to the Sea Center. I have a picture of the 22" flounder being released into the tanks @ the Sea Center that I will forward to Chester.
