Huge Flounder: Competition heating up in last days of replica program
Wow!
The last 48 hours have been wild ones around here. I am going to save some of the news for later when I get some of the video footage I shot edited and decide which photos to run but I promise your minds will be as blown as mine is. There are some truly amazing things to come for those of you who love flounder and flounder fishing as I do.
Now to the competition...
Our November replica program and the "Flounder Angler of the Year" competition ends at midnight Monday. As of Monday we only had one entry for November but many anglers reporting releasing 18-20 inch flounder. Now we have multiples.
First we have Erick Burke, Assistant Director of the Coastal Conservation Association with his beautiful 20.5-inch saddle blanket.

Erick Burke and a gorgeous flatfish.
The big fish released to produce more of its kind.
Next up Chris Dial with his 23-incher that narrowly takes the lead for the month of November. I would like to commend all of the anglers entering for the great shots you send of the fish measurements as they make my job easy. I rarely post these pics but they are detailed and clear.

And now leading the "Flounder Angler of the Year" competition is Thomas Barlow with four released flounder 20 inches or better including two caught this week. Remember anglers ALL documented released and entered flounder 20 inches or better qualify for "Flounder Angler of the Year"points. Even if you do not win the month for a replica your points are tallied so keep on fishing.

Folks, the Flounder Revolution is gaining momentum daily. People are really seeing the conservation value of these amazing fish as well as what a true trophy a 20 plus incher is. Thank you all for doing your part for paralicthys lethostigma. We're going to see a big comeback of these fish in a few years.

PS: Don't forget you still have a few days to compete. Get out there and fish!

A big congrats. to Thomas Barlow. This year he has done a number of great things for flounder. Not only has he released the most over 20" Flounder so far, but he has also donated numerous fish to the Sea Center for restocking, and loaned an O2 system to the Lutes Marine Tournament to help get the flounder brought in to the Sea Center. The Flounder have a friend in Thomas.
