Freeze-related Fish Kills
Greetings fellow flounder fanatics,
Lots of short notes to start off the week so here we go.
Fish Kills
This is a post I made on the Texas Fish & Game forums where I am a moderator and thought you would want to know.
After hearing rumors of fish kills on the coast, I contacted Texas Parks & Wildlife Department (TPWD) Kills & Spills program leader Winston Denton to get the facts.
He confirmed there have been some kills, mentioning Pringle Lake near Port O'Connor and reports in the Matagorda complex. TPWD is still in the process of evaluating these reports and will be monitoring areas along the coast.
"There have been some widespread reports of kills but no large numbers all over confirmed yet," Denton said.
"It could be the fish had a chance to get out to deep water before the Arctic front moved through and they made it or it could be more have been killed and have not floated up yet."

Update: Just got an email back from Texas Parks & Wildlife Department biologist Art Morris who said they are readying a press release about the kills.

Seminars
I would like to thank everyone for their support at the Texas Fishing, Hunting & Outdoors Show in Arlington over the weekend. Several Flounder Revolution regulars showed up and it was good to meet them in person. There will be many seminars coming this year and beginning with the one I am holding at The Fishing Show 2 p.m. March 6 at the George R. Brown Convention Center, they will feature an entirely new format.
There will also be some very exclusive, limited seminars I will announce soon I believe many of you will find great interest in. Its part of a much larger project I will announce either later this year. Out of all of the projects I have participated in during my career as an outdoor writer, this one has the most potential to really shake things up which is why I am taking it slow and planning it out meticulously.
Little glimpses will be coming soon.

Favorite Flounder Color
What is your favorite color when using lures for flounder? Post your comments with your favorite colors and which bay systems you use them in. I'm going to do a special update next Monday with that information. It should be interesting.
