Monday Flounder Update: Flounder Revolution wins major award
Greetings fellow flounder fanatics!

From today March 1-Nov. 30 we will be taking submissions from anglers releasing (or donating to a hatchery through a special event) flounder measuring 20 inches or more.
At the end of each month, the angler who submits the largest released flounder will receive a high quality fiberglass replica of their catch produced by the Fish Mount Store.

I'm happy to bring you the great news Flounder Revolution has been honored as the top special conservation project by the Texas Outdoor Writer's Association as part of their annual Excellence in Craft competition. I was awarded in 8 categories at TOWA's banquet last Saturday in Kerrville and was ecstatic to win for the Revolution.

Chester Moore speaking at TOWA awards ceremony in Kerrville last weekend.
TOWA is a prestigious organization who were very enthusiastic about the project and their judging committee had the following to say.
"Chester Moore’s “Flounder Revolution” is the kind of conservation project people of all ages can support. It started with the concept of Flounder Conservation, it ended up with a marvelous little project called “First Flounder” where each child (though their parents we assume) send in their first flounder catch to get their photo published in flounderrevolution.com and they also receive a certificate proclaiming them the next generation of flounder stewards and conservationist. This movement, in other words, is led by youth. It’s a true revolution with a passionate leader."
I was also happy to win first place on behalf of flounder for my news story in the Port Arthur News and Orange Leader newspapers about the historic stocking in Sabine Lake last May.
"Chester Moore's news story on the historic stocking of flounder in Texas is a historical account few in mainstream media covered. The article has a strong lead, good quotes, good information and is a true news story. In other words, outstanding reporting," said the TOWA judging panel.
It is a great honor to be awarded by TOWA and to get recognition for work on flounder.
2010 Replica Program Starts Now!
In an effort to promote the catch and release of the big, genetically superior breeding female flounder, Flounder Revolution is partnering with the Coastal Conservation Association and the Fish Mount Store for flounder conservation.
Then at the end of the nine-month cycle, the angler who submits the most released flounder measuring 20 inches or more will be our "Flounder Angler of the Year" and a huge fishing tackle prize package.
The rules are available by clicking here but here are a few of them to give you an idea.
#Your catch must be alive when measured, photographed and released.
#Using your digital camera, you must take one photograph showing the fish with ruler and another showing the fish with the angler.
#All submission emails must come with a declaration of release available on the replica program page at flounderrevolution.com.

Everyone needs to check out the rules page. There have been a few small modifications from last year.
Seminars tonight and Saturday
I will be speaking 7 p.m. tonight (March 1) at the Bay Area CCA General Membership Meeting at Mario's Pizza 618 NASA Road 1 in League City. It had been accidentally advertised that I was speaking on another date but I will be there Monday the 1st. Anyone is welcomed including people who are not members of CCA.
I will be doing a series of seminars this spring and virtually every event will feature a different talk and all of them are different from the ones I have done in the past. I'm very excited about the new information I have to pass on and look forward to meeting everyone.
I will also be speaking at the Houston Fishing Show 2 p.m. this Sat. March 6. The first 50 people that show up at this seminar will be put in a special drawing for a guided trip on Sabine Lake with me and a licensed captain. It's a trip for two. Show up early and bring friends. It will be a killer event plus you have a good chance of winning the trip.
You don't want to miss these seminars. Get ready for something really unique and exciting.
Official Flounder Revolution logo
A revolution has to have an official symbol so without further ado, here is ours...

I have had this vision for this since founding the Revolution and have found the right artist to do it: Don McQueen. You might notice his name from his work with CCA and his popular Texas flag based red, speck and flounder print series. Stickers have arrived and will be available at my seminars and soon through the Web along with other merchandise. Part of the proceeds will go directly to the flounder stocking program.

Wow!!! I'm impressed Chester. Keep up the good work.

Congratulations on your awards at the TOWA meeting, Chester! I wish I had been there but I am no longer a member because I am not publishing my Family Fishing Holes book anymore. But I was thrilled to hear about it.
I am so excited about the Flounder Revolution! I will be seeing you Saturday at the Fishing Show.
