Flatfish University Agenda Revealed
Greetings fellow flounder fanatics!

It has been awhile since I checked in but for good reason. I have been working hard on lots of things, especially Flatfish University (TM) which I have been getting lots of questions about. Out of all of the Flounder Revolution (R) projects, this is the one I believe will have the greatest impact and that will certainly help you not only learn to catch more flounder but gain a much deeper understanding of them.

Here's the agenda.
When: Sat. Oct. 9
Where: Fishing Tackle Unlimited (12800 Gulf Freeway @ Fuqua, Houston, TX)
Cost: Event is FREE
10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Seminars
Bryan Treadway (Galveston Area Bank Fishing Hot Spots)
Texas Parks & Wildlife Department (Proper care for catch & release and hatchery donation of flounder)
Chester Moore (The F.L.E.X. Fishing (TM) system for catching trophy flounder*)
*This is the first time this seminar has ever been given featuring totally new techniques and strategies.
Mini Clinics
Targeting flounder around riprap and other structure
Making Your Own Pool Cue Flounder Rod
Knot tying for flounder fishing
Live mud minnow, mullet and shad rigging (for floats, Carolina free-lines)
Proper Hookset for Flounder
Flounder Olympics
If you so choose, test your skills with a fun flounder fishing obstacle course.
For those who will be attending the entire event (which I recommend), there will be a chance for everyone to see each seminar as well as be cycled through the mini clinics which will be limited to a very small group at at time. The idea is when you go through the "Proper Hookset for Flounder" clinic, I will actually show you with a very cool new device how to make a hookset and you will get to handle flounder skulls so you get an idea of why they are so hard to put a hook in. All of the clinics will have this kind of one on one attention.
This introductory session is FREE. I would like to know if you will be attending, so please email me at cmoore@fishgame.com with details on how many will be in your party. Get there early for a good seat and be ready to have your flounder fishing transformed forever.
September Replica Entry
Our replica program received no entries during the brutal heat of August but September is already looking up. Jantzen Miller who is in the lead for our "Flounder Angler of the Year" contest turned in a beautifully spotted 20-incher. Congratulations to this conservation-minded angler.

Sea Center Flounder Donations
In recent weeks, I have had the great pleasure to help donate 27 flounder to Sea Center Texas for Sabine Lake broodstock. With the aid of anglers Frank Moore and Capt. Phillip Samuels we have been able to catch, keep alive and add to the Sabine Lake tanks in Lake Jackson during several fishing and transport sessions. To show just how good flounder deal with transport if you give them proper care, 26 of those fish made it through acclimation and into the tanks. Of all coastal species, they are the single greatest candidate for catch, photo, release and survive. Right now I am working on putting together a flounder roundup event.
Details soon.

Here are a few of the fish shipped to Sea Center from Sabine Lake this week.
One final note, our "Jumping Flatfish" thread has some interesting discussion going on. You might want to check it out by clicking here.
God bless,
Chester Moore

Don't forget the flounder round up, for Galveston bay, this Saturday at Lutes Marine on Chocolate Bayou that will coincide with a fun tournament.

I will definitely be attending. I have never heard of anything like this for flounder. No way I will miss it.

A bunch of us from work are coming. Cannot wait to learn about the whole hookset thing and how to make a pool cue rod.
