Monday Flounder Update: Roundup results, fall run fun, game warden presence
Greetings fellow flounder fanatics,

I thought I would do a quick update before I head out to do some flounder fishing myself, so here we go.
Galveston Roundup
Angler Charlie Hansen organized and held a flounder roundup for Sea Center Texas last Saturday at Boyd's One Stop at the Texas City Dike. The event was of course a live release tournament and sought to help procure broodstock for the hatchery.
Hansen reported 20 "nice and healthy fish mostly between 17 and 20 inches were collected". Rhonda Anderson of Friendswood caught the big fish of the day, measuring 20 1/16-inches, earning her a replica of the catch from the Fish Mount Store provided by Flounder Revolution (R) and sponsored by the Coastal Conservation Association.
Jennifer Bixby of Sea Center was on hand to measure and take care of the fish and was happy to see anglers out in support of the flounder stocking program.
Great work by Hansen and all of the anglers involved with the event.

Rhonda Anderson donates her big fish at last weekend's Roundup.
Fall Run Fun
I have been having a blast during the fall run catching fish at Lake Calcasieu and Sabine Lake. The best part has been doing a lot of experimenting with techniques and equipment for Flatfish University (TM). We are going to truly take flounder fishing to new levels with that project. I am excited about the first event of 2011 Feb. 12 in Beaumont and announcing the location and topic of the April 9 event.
I caught some nice fishing last week and had a breakthrough in fishing strategy I will be explaining at next year's events and also in an upcoming video format. Details soon.
Until then here's a shot my wife took of me releasing a big flounder I caught on the north end of Sabine Lake late last week.

Increased Warden Presence
I have been getting lots of reports of increase game warden presence in key areas of the fall flounder run. In fact, I have witnessed this myself at the saltwater barrier north of Sabine Lake in Bridge City where there was a lot of flounder poaching going on last year. If you see wardens out in these areas or have them check you thank them for working to protect our resource and keeping an eye on our flounder population.
And remember call them if you see someone poaching flounder.
God bless,
Chester Moore

Reminder...Whenever your ready to go to Corp.of Engineering in Galveston and bring the crew to collect flounder..call me-713-816-0884, so I can help collect too. The flippen stick and braid line works great... I can take one guest fishing...The last time I was down fishing, I asked the gueard about Flounder Revolution and collection trailer from Lake Jackson..He said they're people here talking about it...
